From Straps to Support: How a Product Turned Into a Community for Moms

·

I help moms navigate new stages of mom life. I started my business after designing a hands-free pumping straps to help moms pump easier. This is a product that fills a gap in pumping products between completely mobile pumping options and traditional pumping options. My product is changing lives for pumping moms. But something else has also happened. As my business has grown, so have the connections I’ve made with new moms. The more moms I speak with, the more I know that we all have similar thoughts and doubts and insecurities but also the similar goals, dreams, and love for our kids.

There is an extreme lack of communication and sharing that happens between moms because no one wants to be seen as ‘failing’ or ‘not thriving’. But what’s happening is that we are isolating ourselves and struggling alone. But a couple things happen when we start talking. One, we realize we’re not alone. And two, we start learning from each other. These two things alone can literally be life changing.

Before I had kids, I was a pro at being a ‘mom’ and knowing exactly how to handle kids and what to say and I knew my kids would never act in the way these other kids were acting. Needless to say, when I actually became a mom, reality hit a little different than my ‘pre mom, mom’ life and expectations. I allowed so much doubt to creep in. I listened to ‘experts’ even when my gut told me something different. I second-guessed myself constantly, thinking there must be something wrong with me for struggling. But here’s what I’ve learned — that gut feeling? It’s powerful. It’s wisdom. It’s the connection we have with our kids that no expert or book can replicate. And when I finally started listening to it, things began to shift.

That’s what I want for every mom I connect with through this business — not just a product that helps make one part of motherhood easier, but the reminder that you’re not broken, and you’re not alone. Whether you’re navigating your first latch, your first pump, or your first time dropping a child off at daycare, it’s okay to feel unsure. It’s okay to not have it all figured out. What matters is that we start talking about it.

When we share — truly share — what’s going on behind the highlight reel, we build a community that lifts each other up. We normalize the messy, beautiful, hard, joyful reality of motherhood. And when we stop pretending we’re supposed to be doing this perfectly, we give ourselves and each other the space to do it authentically.

So whether you’re here because you’re looking for a better way to pump or just need someone to say, “I get it,” — welcome. This business started with a strap, but it’s really about connection. And if I can help even one mom feel more supported, more seen, or a little less alone, then every late night and early morning has been worth it.

We’re in this together. 💛
